Okay, let’s get one thing straight first. Yes, I’m aware that not everything that is labeled as natural is automatically healthier than those products filled with chemicals (there are other things that are way more important than that) but I just feel better putting natural ingredients on my face and in my body. Call me a hippie child or whatever but that’s just how it is. Also, if I can reduce my plastic waste (hello glass bottles!), support a brand that does not test on animals and enjoy luscious skin and a little bit of aromatherapy along the way, then I’m totally sold!
And a year or so ago, I found a brand that fits all the criteria above—Leahlani Skincare. Leahlani is a Hawaii based artisanal skincare line made of fresh Hawaiian nectars, potent and vibrant botanical actives, and luxurious, tropical beauty oils. Leah, the founder, and formulator of Leahlani Skincare is a certified holistic skincare expert, licensed esthetician, and botanical alchemist.
Without further ado, here are my three favorite products from Leahlani that I use on daily basis:
The description of this peeling says that silken coconut milk, soothing oatmeal, vitamin, and antioxidant-rich tropical fruits, softening clays and organic vanilla beans come together to create the most exotic and opulent cleansing powder you have ever experienced and they are damn right as it’s all of that and more.
If you love Jaffa cakes—those chocolate-dipped cookies with an orange jelly in the middle—or at least like the smell of them, you’re welcome. Why? Well, this peeling pretty much smells like Jaffa cakes. While I’m not a huge fan of those cookies, I have to say the smell is amazing and I literally want to lick my face as soon as I apply this so every use of the peeling is a training of my willpower and the ability to get myself not to eat this deliciousness.
If you add coconut and vanilla (natural) fragrances to pretty much anything and I encounter it in a store or online, there’s 90% chance I’ll buy that stuff. Except if it’s ridiculously expensive, and even then I’d probably find an excuse why this is a priority over my travel insurance or winter car tires (just kidding, I’d never do that! Or would I?).
Coconut and vanilla is pretty much what this oil smells like. It smells like … summer. And the beach. And Hawaii. Although I’ve never been there I’m pretty sure that’s how they smell ... just like carefree summer days. This body oil smells of all my favorite things and, as Leahlani puts it, Mahana is pure warmth, liquid sunshine.
It’s taken me a while, years, to be honest, to come to the realization that the only thing that actually works for hydrating my face are oils and this oil, well, let’s just say I’ve found my skin care soul mate.
This radiant and skin-brightening serum is infused with vitality boosting micro-algae and organic and cold pressed oils rich in Vitamin C + A (carrot seed, geranium, jasmine, rose, and sweet citrus) and the smell is just divine. To me, this is not just a face serum—it’s an aromatherapy portal to another world. It smells of oranges and carefree days and, to me, it’s the perfect way to start the day.
